The Brazos Central Appraisal District is seeking candidates for the following positions:

Customer Information Specialist
Responsibilities include managing large amounts of incoming calls, providing data entry assistance as needed, and identifying/assessing taxpayers’ needs to achieve satisfaction. The applicant should have strong phone contact handling and communication skills, ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively. A high school diploma or GED is required. The applicant should possess general office skills, data entry skills, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred.

Residential Appraiser

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Shall report to the Director of Residential
  • Performs property appraisals according to pre-determined guidelines
  • Gather data and update appraisal records
  • Review appraisal records for accuracy and completeness
  • Discover, visually inspect, measure and record improvements and land data throughout the county
  • Record factors affecting value and classify improvements according to pre-determined schedules
  • Evaluate and analyze collected data to arrive at a market value conclusion
  • Explain the appraisal process and value conclusions to owners, agents and the appraisal review board
  • Read and interpret maps and improvement sketches
  • Assist Personal Property staff as required
  • General data entry as required
  • Must register with the TDLR and continue with his/her professional growth and participate in the district’s education program
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor

 QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Valid Texas driver license with dependable vehicle transportation
  • Current vehicle insurance meeting or exceeding the minimum State of Texas requirements
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with the public as well as with co-workers
  • Ability to use and read a tape measure accurately
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with others
  • Ability to organize and plan work effectively
  • Computer literacy for basic data entry

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

       Requires driving 5 months, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, carrying, pushing and lifting up to 30 pounds in the office and in the field.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

Indoor activity analyzing data, exposure to outdoors; high humidity and extreme temperatures and weather.

Commercial Appraiser
Responsibilities of a Commercial Appraiser include office and field work associated with the appraisal of commercial property, including the gathering of information required for the use of Marshall Valuation Service for the cost approach and an understanding of the income and market approaches to value. Applicants must have a high school education or equivalent and have TDLR certification or be willing to complete requirements to obtain such certification. Applicants must also possess good computer and people skills, have reliable transportation, and a valid Texas Driver License. Commercial Appraisal experience is preferred. Salary is contingent upon experience and qualifications.
